Employee engagement and leadership
According to research, leadership style substantially influences employee engagement and the work environment. Employee engagement and work environment impact the performance of the employees significantly. The result of the study also shows that leadership style can not directly affect the employees' performance because leadership style is an interaction between top management and the employees. It needs an intermediate variable in increasing the performance of employees (Ariussanto, Tarigan, Sitepu and Singh, 2020). As the use of workplace understanding economies increases and emerging motivational state variables such as employee engagement become more widely used, current leadership frameworks are changing attitude and practice. Further, while shifts in workplace dynamics have emerged in preparation for some time, scholars are now calling for a new leadership perspective (Shuck and Herd, 2012).
there are three main drivers when it comes to employee engagement which involves leadership, it can be presented as follows when leaders provide opportunities for decision-making, employees feel engaged and valued when leaders are treating employees empowerment and fair treatment, it is also giving assurance; further leadership has the ability to provide motivation and inspiration via effective and honest communication (Ljungquist and Sällberg, 2017). it is important to understand the outcome of the employee engagement in the workplace if the organisation plan to succeed; when employee engagement strategies enhance the level of engagement and productivity and lead to the achievement of the goals and objectives of the corporation(Grant, 2019).

There is a significant value for interpersonal relationships in each organization as it is an efficient way to bind people of all levels together; further, This interpersonal relationship is defined by the frequency and style in which interactions occur between managers and their subordinates (Amoako-Asiedu and Obuobisa-Darko, 2017). As I am working for one of the country's largest telecommunication companies, interpersonal relationships play a significant role for employees. It is a noticeable organisation that encourages the servant leadership style for its leaders as the organisation want to facilitate the employee emotional and tangible needs via its leaders. The organisation have an open culture where leaders and subordinates have close relationships. Even though there is a hierarchy, employees are welcome to raise their concerns to anyone irrespective of the level of authority.
In conclusion, It has been shown by many academics that there is a relationship between employee engagement and leadership. When leadership welcome suggestions and feedback, employees feel valued. Eventually, it will benefit the overall organisation objectives.

Engagement is positively influenced by transformational leadership rather than transactional and Lasseiz faire leadership (Ghafoor et al. 2011) because transformational leaders foster work engagement by enabling access to information, opportunities, support and adequate resources(Amor et al. 2020). Further, research has shown that enhanced work engagement among employees experiencing low transactional leadership than among employees experiencing high transactional leadership (Strom et al. 2014) suggest.
